Since a truck bed cover is of great importance and value, it is a necessity to take care of it properly. The tonneau cover performs to the best of its ability just to provide you with all of your needs so in return, they deserve to be treated properly as well. One method of expressing your care towards the tonneau cover would be to clean it. In this article, users will be oriented with the proper steps in cleaning the tonneau cover.
The first thing that you need to secure in cleaning a hard tonneau cover would be the tools. Without the complete set of tools, expect that cleaning your tonneau cover will be a tad bit more demanding and tiring. To clean the tonneau cover, you need a pail of water, a mild soap solution, a brush, and a garden hose (that is attached to the faucet of course). If you have bought a protector, then it would be better but make sure first that it won’t damage your cover. Once you have all of these, you are now ready to clean.
Using the garden hose, perform a preliminary rinse on the tonneau cover. Doing this allows you to remove any other forms of dirt that you may not be able to notice. It also helps from preventing any scratches while scrubbing the cover. After that, take the bucket of water, soap solution and brush to start with the actual cleaning. The act of scrubbing demands you to be gentle with the application to avoid any scratches. Scrub slowly and with side to side strokes until all the dirt is removed.
Once done scrubbing, pour the soap solution over the cover and let it soak for some time, preferably 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, start with the scrubbing again. Repeat the process until you are satisfied with the look of the cover. After making sure that it is properly cleaned, wash the cover with water and wipe the cover dry before using the protectant.
